Capacity Bounds and Power Allocation for the Wireless Relay Channel

چکیده
This paper studies upper bounds and lower bounds on the outage capacity and ergodic capacity of a three-node wireless relay channel in a Rayleigh fading environment. We also take into account practical constraints on the transmission duplexing at the relay node and on the synchronization between the source node and the relay node. We find that the gap between the upper bounds and lower bounds is typically negligible. Compared to direct transmission and traditional multi-hop protocols, our results reveal that optimum relay channel signaling can significantly outperform multi-hop protocols, and that power allocation has a significant impact on performance.

Power Allocation In Cooperative Relay Channels
This paper concerns power allocation in relay-assisted wireless channels for two-hop transmission. First, the transmitter sends the information to both the relay and receiver parts. Next, in the second hop, the transmitter cooperates with the relay to increase the received signal to noise ratio (SNR), assuming the relay makes use of the Amplify and Forward (AF) strategy. Moreover, it is assumed...
متن کاملPower Allocation Strategies in Block-Fading Two-Way Relay Networks
This paper aims at investigating the superiority of power allocation strategies, based on calculus of variations in a point-to-point two-way relay-assisted channel incorporating the amplify and forward strategy. Single and multilayer coding strategies for two cases of having and not having the channel state information (CSI) at the transmitters are studied, respectively. Using the notion of cal...

Driven by the fast-growing demand on wireless applications, cooperative relaying has recently received much attention. In this dissertation, cooperative relaying in MIMO systems and sensor networks is studied extensively, with focus on capacity bounds and scaling laws. The first thrust is on the capacity bounds of MIMO relay channels. First, a Gaussian MIMO relay channel model with fixed channe...

This paper studies optimal power allocation to minimize symbol error rate (SER) of amplify-and-forward cooperative diversity networks. First, we analytically solve optimal power allocation problem to minimize SER for three different scenarios, namely, multi-branch single-relay, single-branch multi-relay and multi-branch multi-relay cooperative diversity networks, all subject to a given total re...
متن کاملOptimizing Distance, Transmit Power and Allocation Time for Reliable Multi-Hop Relay System
In multi-hop relay systems, the end-to-end channel capacity is restricted by bottleneck node. In order to prevent some relay nodes from being the bottleneck of system and to guarantee the end-to-end channel capacity, the method of optimizing transmit power, distance and allocation time is proposed in this article. We show that the optimizing distance has more end-to-end channel capacity than th...
